Italian Wine & Cheese Bread Recipe


If you’re looking for a way to spice up normal bread, this is the recipe for you! Try this simple and delicious Italian bread recipe.

This recipe is perfect for all occasions and can be served as an aperitivo (pre-dinner snack), dinner bread or for something a bit different for brunch!

½ cup of dry white wine
½ cup of butter
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
3 cups of flour
1 small packet of dried yeast
3 eggs
1 cup of Monterey Jack cheese (grated)


Combine first 4 ingredients in a small pan. Cook on low flame until well mixed, then set aside and let rest.

Mix 1½ cups of flour and yeast in a bowl. Add the warm wine mixture, eggs and mix (preferably in mixer) at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Add cheese to the mixture, the remaining flour and mix until mixture becomes a soft dough.

Sprinkle flour across a flat surface and knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes, adding flour when necessary, until you’ve reached a consistent and elastic texture.

Cover your dough in a bowl and set aside somewhere dry (room temperature) for an hour and a half. The dough should double in size.

Place the dough in soufflé dishes or in a 22cm oven pan. Cover and let rise again in a dry spot for 40 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and once dough is ready, bake in 375 degrees oven for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, cover with aluminum foil and bake for another 20 minutes.
